Prof. Kuniyoshi Abumi is a distinguished spine surgeon and Professor Emeritus of Hokkaido University, Japan, currently serving as Chief Director of Sapporo Orthopaedic Hospital. He completed his medical training at Hokkaido University and has held numerous academic leadership roles, including Professorship in spinal reconstruction. An internationally recognized leader in spine surgery, he is a long-standing member of the Scoliosis Research Society and has served as President of the Asia Pacific Spine Society and founder of the CSRS-Asia Pacific Section. His clinical expertise spans complex spinal reconstruction, particularly cervical deformity and salvage spine surgery. Prof. Abumi has received multiple prestigious awards, including honors from the Scoliosis Research Society and the Japan Orthopaedic Association.
