Dr. Jose Miguel T. Lumawig is a distinguished Filipino orthopaedic spine surgeon specializing in minimally invasive spine surgery, cervical and lumbar degenerative disorders, spinal deformity, and complex spine reconstruction. He earned his medical degree from the UERM Memorial Medical Center and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency training at the University of the Philippines–Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH), where he developed a strong academic and clinical foundation in spine surgery. Dr. Lumawig subsequently pursued multiple international fellowship trainings in spine surgery, including at Niigata Central Hospital in Japan, Brisbane Private Hospital in Australia, and the Royal Adelaide Hospital in Australia, focusing on advanced spinal techniques and complex spine care. He currently practices at The Medical City and St. Luke’s Medical Center Global City and serves as a board member of the Philippine Spine Society (PSS). Internationally, he is affiliated with organizations such as the Asia Pacific Spine Society (APSS), Cervical Spine Research Society–Asia Pacific (CSRS-AP), and the North American Spine Society (NASS). Widely recognized for his contributions to spine education, research, and contemporary spinal surgery in the Philippines, Dr. Lumawig continues to be actively involved in academic lectures, surgical training, and regional spine conferences.
