Dr. Abhay Nene is a spine surgeon based in Mumbai, India, and an alumnus of T.N. Medical College (MBBS, 1995; MS Orthopedics, 1998, University of Bombay). He completed advanced training in spine surgery both in India and internationally and is currently affiliated with several leading corporate hospitals in Mumbai.
His areas of expertise include paediatric spinal deformity, spinal tumor reconstruction, spinal tuberculosis, and osteoporotic spine disorders. He has authored over 50 international publications and textbook chapters and remains actively involved in research and fellowship training for young spine surgeons.
Dr. Nene was awarded AOSpine Educator of the Year (2018) and is the immediate past Chair of AOSpine Asia Pacific. He also chairs Scoliosis Week and serves on committees of the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS) and the North American Spine Society (NASS).
Beyond clinical practice, he is a spine consultant to Olympic Gold Quest and GoSports Foundation. An avid endurance athlete, he has completed over 20 half marathons, undertaken high-altitude cycling expeditions, and summited major Himalayan trekking peaks including Everest Base Camp and Stok Kangri.
