Prof. Daisuke Sakai is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Tokai University School of Medicine, Japan. An internationally recognized spine surgeon and researcher, he obtained his MD and PhD from Tokai University and previously served as a Visiting Scholar at the University of California, San Diego, USA. His expertise centers on regenerative medicine for spinal disorders, particularly intervertebral disc regeneration using stem cell therapy, as well as scoliosis, spinal fractures, and advanced surgical technologies including augmented reality and artificial intelligence in spine surgery. Prof. Sakai is a highly influential academic with over 450 scientific publications and more than 24,000 citations. He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Orthopaedic Research Spine (ORS) and holds leadership roles within AO Spine Japan and the Asia Pacific Spine Society (APSS). He has received multiple international research honors, including the prestigious Berton Rahn Research Award.
