Background: The Scoliosis Research Society-22 (SRS-22) questionnaire is a validated tool for assessing health-related quality of life (HRQOL) in patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). This study aimed to translate, culturally adapt, and validate the SRS-22 for use among Filipino adolescents.

Methods: A cross-sectional validation study was conducted. The original SRS-22 was translated into Filipino using Beaton et al.’s cross-cultural adaptation guidelines. Thirty patients with AIS completed the Filipino version. Internal consistency was assessed via Cronbach’s alpha, and test-retest reliability was determined using Pearson’s correlation. Construct validity was analyzed through exploratory factor analysis.

Results: Cronbach’s alpha ranged from 0.754 to 0.858 across the five domains, indicating acceptable to excellent internal consistency. Test-retest reliability showed strong correlations (r > 0.70). Factor analysis supported the structural validity of the translated questionnaire. Cultural adaptation adjustments were well accepted, with 86.67% of participants reporting the questionnaire was clear and 90.0% affirming its relevance.

Conclusion: The Filipino SRS-22 is a valid and reliable instrument for measuring HRQOL in Filipino adolescents with AIS. Its integration into clinical practice and research is recommended.
